Project Benefits
These are important proposals that will be sensitively implemented and that provide a range of benefits, some for the College and some for our neighbours:
Address a long term need for new boarding accommodation for the College and remove the need to acquire local housing stock.
Beautiful boarding accommodation with 150 beds for pupils who will be supervised by matrons and residential staff.
Reduce pick up and drop off traffic and playground noise that affects residential streets.
Enhanced co-located, specialised education facility at the St Mary’s Hall site.
Contextual and high quality architecture with robust materials, sensitive to their heritage setting.
BREEAM Excellent with low carbon buildings and renewable energy generation.
Transforming the Eastern Road and Belle Vue streetscape – removing unsightly buildings.
A strategy to improve ongoing vehicular movements at both sites.
Construction Management plan to manage construction traffic.
Improvements to the playing field at the St Mary’s Hall site including irrigation, surface stitching and drainage.
Community use of a new multi use sports hall and playing field at the St Mary’s Hall site.
A minimum of 10% biodiversity net gain will be achieved at both sites.
Enhancement to the conservation area at the Convent site, including the retention and restoration of the villa and chapel and removal of 20th century extensions of limited historic value.
